Scholarship Gala

The SBAA thanks all of its members and friends for making this year’s Scholarship Gala a tremendous success.  This marks the twenty-third year the SBAA has hosted the Gala to benefit the SBAA’s scholarship program.

Scholarship winners Nikola Marinkovich, Danka Milic, Tamara Momirov, Aleksandra Ostojic, and Nesko Radovic were recognized at the Gala for their outstanding academic achievements and unique contributions to the Serbian-American community.

“We were thrilled to honor five exceptional young people at this year’s Gala,” said SBAA President Stevan Krkljes.  “Our scholarship winners have not only excelled at some of the nation’s top law schools, but also demonstrated an abiding commitment to serving their community.  We look forward to watching them achieve great things as practicing attorneys.”

In addition to honoring scholarship winners at the Gala, the SBAA presented Protinica Ana Krosnjar with the Major Richard L. Felman Merit Award in recognition of her decades of service.  Protinica Ana joins a distinguished list of previous Merit Award recipients, including Vlade Divac, Bishop Irinej of Australia, authors William Dorich and Greg Freeman, and Major Felman, after whom the SBAA named the Merit Award in 2000.

It was fitting that Protinica Ana receive the Merit Award this year, her fiftieth year of teaching Sunday School, as several of her former pupils were among the SBAA’s scholarship recipients.  “Protinica Ana has been a pillar of our community over the span of five decades,” added Krkljes.  “This award recognizes the lasting impact she has had on her students, and the many lives she has touched through her charitable efforts.”
