Scholarship Gala

The SBAA’s annual Scholarship Gala brings together Serbian-American attorneys, judges, and friends of the SBAA for a great evening benefiting the SBAA Scholarship Foundation.  The Gala has for twenty-three years helped provide scholarships to Serbian-American law students across the country.

The Gala not only helps support the SBAA’s scholarship program, but also is an opportunity to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the Serbian-American community.  The Czar Dusan Award is presented at the Gala to a lawyer who has demonstrated professional excellence and leadership in the community.  Czar Dusan award winners include many federal and state judges and elected officials.

The Major Richard L. Felman Merit Award is also presented at the Gala.  Major Felman’s service, sacrifice, and advocacy on behalf of the Serbian people remain a guiding inspiration to the SBAA.  The SBAA presents the Merit Award in Major Felman’s honor to an individual whose non-legal service has benefited the Serbian-American community.  Merit Award recipients include Vlade Divac, Bishop Irinej of Australia, authors William Dorich and Greg Freeman, and Major Felman, after whom the SBAA named the Merit Award in 2000.
